With Kyla’s wedding coming up this weekend, I spent much of the day trying on different dresses at home. Ideally, I would have been at some high-end designer boutique doing that, but I don’t quite have the funds right now to buy new dresses. So I must make do with what I have. Despite having twenty dresses, I actually didn’t have too many viable choices. Like most image-conscious young women, I do not want people to see me in the same outfit more than once. In theory, this shouldn’t be an issue since I haven’t seen most of the people attending the wedding for a few years now, but thanks to Facebook, there’s over 300 tagged photos of me attending various events. I wouldn’t want someone to get a picture taken with me at the wedding, post it on Facebook, tag me, and have someone browsing through my tagged photos notice that I’ve worn the same dress before at another event. So I spent an hour carefully going through each photo on Facebook to identify which dresses I have been photographed in before.
This left me two choices – a royal purple strapless/sleeveless dress and a lemon yellow silky dress. Both dresses looked fine on me except for one issue – they both fully exposed my bedbug bite-covered arms and legs. I guess I could wear pantyhose to conceal the red spots on my legs, but what could I do for my arms? I suppose I could try using some makeup, but a thick layer of concealer would probably exacerbate the itching and irritation.
There has got to be a better way. Seeing as how I still have some time before the wedding, what if I try to prevent any further exposure to the bedbugs? Hopefully the current bites will subside by then, and if my plan works there won’t be any new bedbug bites either. Since fully eradicating the bedbugs isn’t an option thanks to an apathetic roommate and a negligent landlord, I’ll just have to protect myself from them. To avoid further exposure to bedbugs at night, I’ll double bag myself in garbage bags and seal myself into a new sleeping bag. This should hopefully prevent the bedbugs from getting close enough to my arms or legs to cause any further bites. Since I can’t really afford the sleeping bag, I’ll refund it when the wedding is over.
